Working Directors

Every move of theirs makes news. No wonder then, we await the announcement of their new film with bated breath. Filmfare does a quick dekho of the movie moghuls. Whose films are in the pipeline and whose roll off the racks.


Farhaan Akhtar

After the success of Don, Farhaan Akhtar is busy with the pre-production phase of Don-2. This time, Shah Rukh Khan will not only play the lead but also participate in the production of the movie. Don 2 is slated to be completed and released by the end of next year.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

Rakeysh Mehra is currently working on the project titled, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.’ The film is based on the famous Indian athlete Milkha Singh who is popularly known as The Flying Sikh who came fourth in the 1990 Rome Olympics.

Karan Johar

After his experimental venture, My Name is Khan; Karan Johar is working on his next project. The film is a re-make of the 1998 Hollywood hit Stepmom and is titled Love You, Maa. Karan’s four handkerchief version includes Kareena Kapoor and Kajol in lead roles. The film is been directed by Siddharth Malhotra while Karan is handling the production.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali

After the dismal performance of Saawariya at the Box Office, Bhansali is back with an intense drama titled, Guzaarish. This movie has Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. The movie will revolve around the story of a married nurse and a quadriplegic, wheelchair-using patient played by Hrithik.

Vipul Shah

After London Dreams, Vipul Shah has come up with another project titled, Action Replayy (note the extra Y). This movie has Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. Action Replayy is reportedly said to be inspired by the Hollywood hit, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Farah Khan

Farah Khan’s next directorial venture, Tees Maar Khan is the director’s first film without Shah Rukh Khan. The film is written by Farah’s beau Shirish Kunder. Farah has promised, that just like her other movies, this one too would have action, comedy and full masala.


Vishal Bharadwaj

He just wouldn’t take a break. Vishal Bharadwaj is working hard on his next project titled, Saat Khoon Maaf. This movie has Priyanka Chopra in the lead. Her unconventional character is married to seven different people and is also responsible for their death. When? Why? How? Let’s wait and watch.

Ashutosh Gowariker

Khelien Hum Jee Jaan Say. That’s the name of Ashutosh’s next pet project. This movie has Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The movie is said to be a period thriller, based on the book DO AND DIE by Manini Chatterjee on the Chittagong uprising of 1930.

Imtiaz Ali

After successfully showcasing Love Aaj Kal, Imtiaz Ali takes a different route and goes the Rockstar way. His next movie stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead that plays a musician. Imtiaz has still to make a formal announcement on who is going to play the female lead in the film.
After successful musical romantic entertainers like Jab Wet Met and Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar will hopefully complete the triology.

Anurag Kashyap

After his proud walk on the red carpet at Cannes as co-producer for Udaan, Anurag Kashyap is more than busy working on multiple projects. His next directorial venture is The Girl in Yellow Boots, one of his many ambitious projects, starring Kalki Koelchin, which will release by the end of this year.
