In News - SRK Farah feud! Arshad gets offered CRAP, Akshay and Santoshi?

SRK-Farah fallout not worse than a family squabble

Here's a story which tells you that the spat between Farah Khan and SRK was nothing worse than a family squabble. Vishal-Shekhar apparently are the first choice of music directors for SRK's RA1 and Farah's Tees Maar Khan. As TMK is ready to go on floors, she wanted Vishal-Shekhar to promptly provide the music. The musical duo were not sure about letting go of SRK's film so were in a dilemma. Farah graciously asked them to cater to King Khan's need first. However, when SRK heard of this, he instructed Vishal-Shekhar to go ahead with the music of TMK first as his film had a long pre-production schedule. Who says the film industry isn't one big happy family?

Arshad Warsi: "I mostly get offered crap"
On Acting
“People tell me yaar tujhe to acting karne ki zaroorat hi nahi padti. (Hey you don’t need to act) That’s because I make it look easy. But people don’t value that. They want to see an actor put in effort to emote only then do they believe he is an actor. I don’t want to dramatise my performances just so it looks like I have acted. I am a decent actor. I take my job very seriously. I am not obnoxious and I don’t make a big deal about my acting. I guess that sort of matters in the long run.”

On Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah
“She was both Thakur and Gabbar all at the same time in Ishqiya. That’s how good she was. We have also been buddies since our Munnabhai days. What I like about her is that she is not fake. She has always been who she is. Naseersaab and I share a mutual admiration. I remember meeting him a long time ago and I wanted to compliment him for the way he played Gandhi in Hey Ram. I was shooting for a film which I won’t name and he said to me, ‘Yaar tum itne acche actor ho, iss film mein kya kar rahe ho?’(You are such a good actor, what are you doing in this film?) That felt good.”

On kissing Vidya Balan
“It’s a huge problem when you are buddies with someone and then you have to go perform a really romantic scene with them. And Vidya has a giggling problem. She giggles like a mad woman. So here I am working myself up to be all intense and I say ‘Bag kahaan chupake rakha hai,’ (Where have you hidden the bag?)pulling her arm with force and she bursts out laughing. As for the kiss itself, believe me, I tried hard to get out of it. But my director Abhishek (Chaubey) had such a valid point that I had to agree. He said that the contrast between the shaiyarana romance of Naseersaab and my raw passion had to be brought out. And I had to agree. I put myself in Abhishek’s place and asked myself what I would have done had I been directing the film. I would’ve convinced the actor to do it. But I won’t do it again. Because my wife Maria is extremely uncomfortable. Arshad the actor doesn’t have a problem. But Arshad the husband does. You can’t give yourself up so completely to your work that you neglect your family. Nothing is so important enough for you to sacrifice your family’s happiness. If it makes my wife mad or my kids can’t watch it, there is certainly a problem.”

Santoshi signs Akshay Kumar

We hear that Rajkumar Santoshi's pet project, Jis lahore Nahin Dekhya, based on Asghar Wajahat's celebrated play of the same name, is ready to finally go on the floors. Santoshi reportedly wanted to make the film since God knows when but wasn't getting the dates of any actor. The film went from Sunny Deol to Ajay Devgn to Salman Khan to Shahid Kapoor. The buck finally stopped at Akshay Kumar's door, who has apparently signed on the dotted line.
