After a whole year of crapfest of movies, and some real underperformers, Indian box-office is set to be on fire come December when 3 of the biggest and most anticipated movies release in a span of 3 weeks.
First will be Rocket Singh with Ranbir Kapoor in full form, fresh off from critically acclaim and BO success Wake up Sid, and a big hit in Ajab prem, boy is ready to cap off the year with some style. Promos of Rocket are already hitting all the right notes, Ranbir's new look is talk of the town, and with story still well under wraps, there is enough curiosity, not to mention super excited fan base
of Ranbir.
Next up will be Avatar. well, if you don;t know what is it, you got to share what you have been smoking all this while. This is probably one of the most anticipated movie the world over. On 18th December when Avtar will release world over, it is expected to be a spectacle, even in India. James cameroon the director, whose Titanic still holds the record for biggest gross ever in the world, even in India, will be coming out with this sci fi flick expecting a similar response he got for his Titanic.
If trailers are anything to go by, this is pick of the bunch for me.
Then is the big one, 3 Idiots. after 4 successes in a row, that too like RDB, TZP, and Ghajini like monster hit, this one is touted to be as big as Ghajini and as critically acclaimed as TZP. With Raju Hirani and Aamir at helm, this is a serious possibility.
With trailers and songs already on air, Aal izz well becoming new national anthem, and butt chair becoming, well new national butt chair, Idiots is sure to dazzle one and all. 3I left no stone unturned for this one, with Aamir having botox surgery to Akki style toilet comedy, VVC even going to check out Avatar hype, so excitement and anticipation for the movie is obvious.So come December, we will be ready to see some real fireworks, finally BO followers have some reasons to smile.

Rocket Singh - Will depend on the story.
Avatar - Depends on how much it connects with the Indian audience. Will be a sure blockbuster in US IMO.
3 Idiots - It will be a Hit for sure. Now if it will be a super hit or blockbuster - can't say.
i think Rocket will be WUPS kind of film and its prospects will be severely hampered by Avatar and 3 idiots .
really waiting to see how Avatar does in India ( can it repeat 2012 effect ) and can it have any effects on BW films around it

I found Rocket singh trailor most exciting of the lot...I didnt like Avatar trailor that much...3I 's promos were nothing special to me...
But i believe at the BO all the three will strike gold...
The author forgot to add the Oscar award winning movie"'paa "' from the list BTW...
I am super excited about AVATAR (and MNIK promo with it). Rocket says nothing and that piques the interest. Pa should be unique - how it will do is anyone's guess. And 3 I will strike gold for sure.

I guess its very very difficult to predict how the picture will be by third week of december, but if I assume all three turn out to be real stupendous movies, there will lot of choices for people, which is always great.
But then all 3 movies have predominantly the same fanbase, college going urban youth. Whether that be Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, or English movies, they have always been fan favourite for what I call, DU crowd. And at the same time for this DU crowd, any HW movie is better than any BW movie.
Biggest loser in this case can be Rocket Singh, it releases the first and if its anything less than a great movie, its run might cut short if Avatar and 3I turn out to be as good as expected.
Let me stick my neck out this one time and say, I don;t think 3I can match Ghajini or even Rab ne. I don;t think it will be due to Kareena jinx, just because Aamir will pay for Ghajini. I don;t think Ghajini was as much liked as its numbers suggest, just as OSO was not as much liked as its BO suggested. Moreover 3I doesn;t look like a massy affair which was a big reason for Ghajini's success, and if you take out Ghajini, none of Aamir movie reached 70 Crs. I think at the very max, even if 3I is a great movie, it will go to 80, maximum. Though if it gets past Rab ne, I will gladly eat the humble pie, not to mention it will be a new record for any actor to get back to back top 2 grossers.
Avatar on the other hand might have also done a lot better had it released some other time, this time being sandwiched between Rocket and 3I, it will find it really tough to even equal 2012, which had a clean run of sorts.
I am expecting 3I to be clear winner in Mumbai territory, whereas Rocket and Avatar won't be as much behind in Delhi region, and Rocket will actually fair whole lot better in Punjab. East side, Bengal and all I think will prefer Avatar, so will South. I am expecting South India to lap up Avatar like anything.
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out in the end, but it sure does look like some real interesting month. And extended holiday season will definitely help all 3 biggies.

Interesting take here...Yes because of Avatar and 3I,,rocket singh will suffer....I have always mentioned, in a one/two week gap alaways the movie which comes out first suffers irrespectiove of the quality of the movies..
But yes..since MNIK promos 'll be unveiled with Avatar,i will definitely catch it up with this one...So december 'll be hectic :)
