Atithi Tum... has no romantic angle: Konkona

There is no romantic angle to the movie Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, award-winning actress Konkona Sen Sharma says about her new film.

"Though Ajay and I play the role of a married couple in the film, there is no romantic angle; it's about the comedy that happens while trying to get relief from a person who comes as a guest and shows no signs of leaving," said Konkona.

The film revolves around the story of Puneet (Ajay Devgn) and Munmun (Konkona Sen Sharma), a happily married couple living in Mumbai. Their life takes a turn when a distant relative Chachaji (Paresh Rawal) turns up unannounced at their doorstep from a far-off village.

The chaos that follows makes it a rib tickling comedy where the agonised couple tries various methods to get rid of him but fails time and again.

Ajay Devgn was all praise for Konkona's performance and maintained that it's always a pleasure working with a commendable actor.

"It was a great experience working with Konkona. When you act with a very good actor, it becomes a fantastic experience. People think that when we work, we compete with each other but if the other person works well, then only can you work better because filmmaking is teamwork," said Ajay.

'Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?' not slapstick comedy: Ajay Devgn

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, who has just bagged the Stardust award for Reader's Choice best actor in comedy for "All The Best", says his forthcoming film "Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?" is a hilarious movie but unlike any slapstick comedy.

"It is not a slapstick comedy. It's a lighthearted film. This comes under a different genre. There is sensibility along with humour. There is also an undercurrent emotion in it. After a long time I did a film of this kind," Ajay told reporters at the official launch of the upcoming film's website here Monday.

The film, directed by Ashwani Dhir, revolves around the story of Puneet (Ajay Devgn) and Munmun (Konkona Sen Sharma), a happily married couple living in Mumbai. Their life takes a turn when a distant relative Chachaji (Paresh Rawal) turns up unannounced at their doorstep from a far off village.

The chaos that follows makes it a rib tickling comedy where the agonised couple tries out various methods to get relief from him but fails time and again. The film is set to release Feb 26.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge - trailer!

News of the day - Ranbir deaf and mute?

Ranbir Kapoor exercised his vocal chords for Anjaana Anjaani. Music directors Vishal-Shekhar have been deliriously happy with Ranbir's singing abilities and plan to rope in Priyanka Chopra to playback in the film as well. Meanwhile, we have heard that Ranbir is playing a deaf and mute character in the yet untitled project helmed by Anurag Basu.

OUR TAKE - why Ranbir? Why the DVD xeroxing Anurag Basu?

Akshay-Suniel-Paresh out of Hera Pheri 4
This may come as a shocker but sources reveal that director Anees Bazmee has decided to do away with the original cast of Hera Pheri. Instead of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal of the original Priyadarshan venture, the film will now have Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar anchoring the roles.

OUR TAKE - maybe it will not be so stale anymore?

Rahman and I share a silence, an ehsaas
So Sonu deliberately ‘hiked’ his price to distance himself. “Instead of doing 50 songs a month I decided to do just two songs. The rest of the time I wanted to spend in silence and in seeking who I am,” he says adding, “Music composers today have understood that money lies in events. So they have either started singing songs themselves or giving songs to
those who will perform in their shows. The entire game has changed. Composers come to me only for special songs, barring a few like Sajid-Wajid, Shantanu Moitra and A R Rahman with whom I have worked consistently.” Interestingly, Sonu and Rahman, both dubbed as soul-searchers, are not really comrades in conversation. “We share a silence of sorts. He knows that I know what he knows. He is quite like me — detached from things. We meet each other cordially, we do the song and I leave. We don’t connect via emails or talk on the phone. I think it’s good this way. Rahman and I just share an ehsaas (feeling),” Sonu decodes the equation.

OUR TAKE - stop trying to be a rock star Sonu, and just sing!!

De Dana Dan - Reviews (Nikhat Kazmi, Khalid Mohd., Raja Sen, Taran Adarsh, Rajeev Masand)

Nikhat Kazmi's Review -

Rating - 2.5/5

Blame it on the director, but they're mostly missing in action: Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Suniel Shetty. And it's hard to fathom why! Why in moviedom's name would a filmmaker sign the three most thoroughbreds of comedy and waste them away with a vanishing act? Haven't the threesome -- Akshay, Suniel and Paresh -- passed the litmus test at the box office and given contemporary cinema some of its best comedies in the Hera Pheri sequels? So why would anyone want to brush aside their crackling chemistry for a load of chaos created by a bunch of side characters who dominate the entire second half of the film? More importantly, why would a director lock his lead player, Akshay Kumar, in a cupboard, for reels and reels of the film, specially when he has been responsible for most of the laughs in the first half?

Hara-kiri, did we say! Or is it simply a case of bad judgement. Whatever be the case, De Dana Dan is a film that begins soundly and then slips into cuckoo land, only because the primary characters and their story is side-tracked for a compendium of tertiary tales. And these too, are so confusing, you keep losing the plot and the character count even though you desperately try and keep pace with the mayhem in this marriage that mostly transpires in a hotel in Singapore.

Relive 'Hera Pheri' magic with 'De Dana Dan'

After delivering comedies like "Hera Pheri" and "Phir Hera Pheri", Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal have teamed up once again in "De Dana Dan", another laugh riot that releases Friday.

Expectations are high as Priyadarshan's latest venture is being compared to the "Hera Pheri" films. Produced by Ganesh and Girish Jain and Sunil A. Lulla, it also stars Katrina Kaif, Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy.

" 'De Dana Dan' is not 'Hera Pheri'. Sure the star cast is the same and so is the director, but there's no effort to make a sequel to 'Hera Pheri' or be like 'Hera Pheri'. But comparisons with 'Hera Pheri' are inevitable. 'De Dana Dan' is far more entertaining than any Akshay-Priyadarshan movies made in the past," one of the producers was quoted as saying.

Shot mostly in Singapore, "De Dana Dan" is about Nitin Bankar (Akshay) who multi-tasks for a woman industrialist (Archana Puran Singh) - he is her butler, driver, watchman and gardener.

But Nitin desperately wants to become rich and to fulfil his dreams, he marries Anjali Kakkad (Katrina) who supports him financially.

Meanwhile, Nitin's best friend Ram Mishra (Suneil) also comes to Singapore with big dreams but ends up being a courier delivery man. He falls in love with Manpreet Oberoi (Sameera) but her high society parents don't approve of their marriage. They say Ram will have to rise up to their level to marry her.
